How many times have you thought, âI think I need to change my life!â, well I did just that. One day after contemplating the fluff in my navel for far too long, I finally realised I wanted to be more creative. The decision was easy, mainly prompted by a discussion I had with a work colleague. Over a couple of months he and I talked endlessly about what makes you happy, the brain or the heart, suffice to say the heart won in the end. The path was anything but easy, arguments, discussions, more arguments, you get the idea.
During the previous 15 years my Brain had taken the front seat and punished me with one soul destroying job after another. The con was on, bosses convinced my Brain that this was the life for me, they would often inform me that I had done a great job or I had saved them much dosh. Now many years after being made redundant from my last job, I have, I believe throttled the part in my Brain that thinks I.T. is fun!!
Now with my first full length novel "The Lazarus Principle" complete and with a publisher, I have started to concentrate on photography and in the process stopped chasing the shadows that former employers felt were in some way essential to the work life balance. It made me stop, listen to my heart; and through photography and writing I believe that I will eventually find peace. |
